Cloverdale Books invites contemporary essays on the topic of Spirituality, Resistance, and Identity Formation in Africa and the global African Diaspora for possible inclusion in an anthology to be published in 2008. A wide range of essay topics is both welcomed and encouraged.

Editor: Hugh Page, Jr., Ph.D., of the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Page serves as Dean of the First Year of Studies; he is the Walter Associate Professor of Theology and Associate Professor of Africana Studies.

Essay Specifications

  • Length: Essays are to be 2500-4500 words in length.
  • Footnotes/Endnotes: all are to be formatted as endnotes.
  • File type: Essays are to be submitted electronically as either a MS Word document (.doc) or a Rich Text Format document (.rtf).
  • References - use APA, MLA or Chicago Manual of Style - be consistent throughout essay.
  • Essay must be submitted “Publication Ready.” The author is expected to submit the essay as if it were ready for publication, thus maximizing efficiency and ensuring the correct transcription of the author’s meaning and intent. Prior to acceptance, the essay must be deemed by the publisher to be “publication ready.” This includes a review of the grammar, punctuation, citations, bibliographic references, and any relating components of the essay.
  • Authors must submit a Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Essay Submission

  • Send Final and Complete essay along with author's CV to editor@cloverdalebooks.com or on a CD mailed to Cloverdale Books, 218 W. Washington St., Suite 402, South Bend, IN 46601.
  • Once submitted, you will receive an acknowledgment Email. We will notify authors of our intention to include or not include their essay by June 27, 2008.
