Book Description
This is a book about Christian themes, but the starting point is the ten ox-herding pictures well-known as a teaching metaphor in Zen. Zen wisdom is found in Christian tradition, especially mysticism. The different paths of Zen and Christianity intersect and dialogue with each other, producing nourishing spiritual insights on the pilgrimage to finding Who and Whose we are. This book examines Mahayana Buddhist tradition, allowing dialogue with Christianity in this interreligious era. The book ends with a series of ten sermons, each based on an ox-herder picture. The author, a New Zealand priest and university teacher, has lived and worked in Asia for eight years.

This book offers an important contribution to Christian understanding of Buddhist faith as well as our own understanding of our own Christian faith in today’s religiously plural world.
